What’s Making Your Office Way Too Messy?
Your office gets messy from time to time, sure. People work 8 hour shifts, 5 days a week, so it’s only natural that clutter is going to build up and things are going to be misplaced every now and then. It’s often said that having a messy desk is a sign of genius, so don’t feel too bad if you often have to dig through piles to find a pen.
However, if your office is in a permanent state of being messy, it’s going to get increasingly harder to function as a company. You won’t know where anything is, you’ll have a higher accident chance, and you may even lose important documents. Now that’s not good for business, and building mess is something that needs to be changed as soon as possible.
A Lack of Digitization
How much physical data do you store in your office? Because if there’s a wall of filing cabinets that’s eating up a lot of space, it’s clear you need to start digitizing your files more often.
The cloud is much safer than it’s ever been these days, and you can build your own server, both with the necessary features and scalability for the future. Understand your cloud needs ahead of time, and you’ll be able to save a lot of time, space, and money in the coming months.
A Load of Trip Hazards
What’s all over the floor of your office? Because if there’s anything but a clear walkway, you’re going to be in trouble sooner or later. Anything from computer wires and cables, to coats that have fallen off of the back of desk chairs, could mean you’ll suffer with a lawsuit at some point!
So, it’s a good idea to implement some safety policies here, such as keeping desk walkways clear at all times. It might also be a good idea to get your wiring system looked at; a new data network wiring plan could entirely prevent wires from ever gracing your floor again, allowing traffic to flow freely around the office without the risk of someone catching their foot and falling. If you need to shorten some of your cables, an electrical supply store may be able to help.
A Cluttered Desk Space
Indeed, even as we mentioned above that a cluttered desk is a good sign of an active mind, sometimes this territory can tip over into being too messy. For example, if your desk space is regularly covered in litter, from snacks and lunch breaks, or you can never find the post-it note you’ve written company details down on, it’s clear something needs to change!
And if you find this is a regular occurrence in your business, it’s a good idea to get a waste paper basket for every single cubicle or station. Make sure your employees don’t have to get up to throw things away and you’ll find your office is kept much cleaner (and productive!) overall.
Your office is far too messy right now, and that just won’t work. Make sure you’re taking active steps to change this, for better business.
