8 Ways to Cut Your Company Energy Bills
Are your company energy bills too high? By making a few changes, you may be able to lower your energy consumption and spend less. Here are just 8 ways to save money on energy within your business.
Switch to LED Bulbs
Whilst LED bulbs cost more to buy than regular bulbs, they are a worthy investment. The average LED uses up 6 x less watts to provide the same luminosity and lasts much longer. If your workplace relies on a lot of lighting, this could be an easy way to cut costs.
Use Motion Sensing Exterior Lighting
When it comes to exterior lighting, consider motion sensing lighting as a way of saving power. This will the save you the need to have a light on overnight.
Opt for Energy Efficient Machines
It’s worth considering the energy rating when choosing new machinery for your business. Older machinery is likely to consume more power than newer machinery. This could include anything from computers to commercial kitchen equipment to industrial manufacturing machinery. This could help you to make huge savings.
Unplug Machines When Not in Use
Machines that are left plugged in when not in use will be draining unnecessary energy. Unless these machines need to be left on standby constantly, make sure to unplug them at the end of the working day.
Insulate Your Workplace
Insulation could help to save you money on your heating bills. Consider buying insulated roof panels to prevent heat loss from your roof and consider switching to double glazed windows to prevent heat loss through windows. Such improvements can be expensive, but could be a worthy investment in the long run. You’ll likely need to own the property or have permission from the owner before adding insulation.
Invest in Solar Panels
Switching to solar energy could prevent you ever having to pay an electricity bill again. With enough solar panels, you can generate enough electricity to power your companies without use of mains electricity. Installing solar panels is a big investment and you may have to wait a few years to make a return, so bear this in mind.
Outsource Printing
If you only rarely have to print off documents, consider whether you really need your own printer. Outsourcing your printing to another company could save you the energy required to run a printer.
Allow Employees to Work Remotely
You may also be able to save money by allowing employees to work from home. Even if its only once or twice a week, you’ll have less employees using machinery and therefore less power will be getting used.
